When Gilbert was just a small fledgling, it’s primary industry was agriculture. This helped it get started, but like many towns in the area, the growth of the modern industrial era threatened to kill off the livelihood of much of the area’s residents. Rather than admit defeat, Gilbert diversified and continued to push. Now, Gilbert has grown from those early rural days into a fully metropolitan area with a diverse economy keeping the city on the path of success. Although Gilbert honors its past in art and museums, the modern-day town has brought in numerous tech and art businesses, an example being the web domain company Go-Daddy which provides an average of 600 continuous jobs.

Great Place to Learn

gilbert arizona schoolGilbert isn’t just getting recognition for its growth over the last several years; it’s also getting noticed for being a great place to raise and teach children! The town of Gilbert was recently named “one of the top places to live and learn” by GreatSchools.org which polls and reviews schools all around the country. In addition to the nationally recognized public schools, Gilbert also pushed to be the first place in Arizona to add charter schools to its offerings. Also, the town features a wide variety of private and Christian academies that are all known for excellent curriculums as well.

Safest Town in Arizona

gilbert-arizona-police-departmentYes, it seems as though Gilbert has been getting noticed by the rest of the country for a lot of positive things. Another one is the low amount of crime. It received the award for “Safest Municipality in Arizona” by Forbes Magazine and for the “24th safest town in the United States” too. This is due to the extremely low crime rate in the town, which is surprising when you consider the size of the population in the area. In fact, it broke the record in 2005 as the largest town with zero murders in 2005. If the education wasn’t enough to make it a viable option for raising one’s family, the low crime rate definitely makes it a more compelling case!

Access to the Big City

If there was one last benefit that the Gilbert community offers its residents, it would be transportation. Gilbert is known for being very bicycle-friendly as well as friendly to other vehicles on the roads. Gilbert also has a public bus stop that runs every day. However, the best feature of the bus stop isn’t that it can get you from one side of town to the other, but that it commutes daily to-and-from Phoenix City to the south. This means that you can live in the town and experience the town-size community of Gilbert, but you can also get easily to the big city without even taking a car. It’s both great service for Phoenix City as well as all the Gilbert residents.

There is an array of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in Gilbert.  There are twelve neighborhood parks, five district parks, two community parks, soccer fields, a Skateboard Park, and a dog park. There are four public pools and aquatic centers, seven golf courses, a Water Ranch with hiking and equestrian trails, and the Gilbert Rotary Centennial Observatory.
