Scottsdale became a city in 1951 and is a city full of variety! By that, I mean that it’s home to miles of scenic trails through nature and a busy bustling city with all the amenities a person could ask for. It is a perfect mix of desert landscapes and lush, green gardens. It is called, “The West’s most western town” and yet, it is full of diverse art and music from around the world. This is why Scottsdale is a city full of variety. It is the perfect place to live for those who want a lot of excitement and entertainment, and it is a great escape for those who would like to find a quiet place to get close to nature and relax. This is why so many people love this area of Arizona. The city itself has a population of 218,000 people, making it the sixth largest city in Arizona, but it also has access to over 60 miles of trails through foothills, mountains, deserts and gardens which make it a great place to get away.

Warm Seasonal Weather

For those of us who dislike the extreme cold, Scottsdale is perfect! The winter is Scottsdale gets up to 68°F during the day and dips to a brisk 43°F on a normal night from October to February. And once springtime hits, everyone is outside enjoying the beautiful, temperate weather. During those months it reaches up to a high of 77°F on a hot day and drops to a crisp low of 50°F at night. Scottsdale has two versions of Summer. First, there is what locals call a dry summer. These are full of bright, sunny days with very low humidity. The temperatures get as high as 99°F on average and dip down to about 68°F at night. However, the wet summers feel different. During these months, the monsoon season of Central America sends the city of Scottsdale some of its rain and thunderstorms. It’s still only an average of 2.75 inches of rain, but it is comparatively more rain than the rest of the year. Because of these cool showers, the humidity is much higher, making it feel above 100 degrees on some days. The evenings during a wet summer can drop to a cool 60°F.

Scottsdale’s Favorite Pastimes
